April 24th, 2016
In the spirit of spring, Efflorescence is a floral/chic shoot that brings out the colour that most of us Ontarians were hoping to see rather than the snow that early April had in store.
I went back home this passed Easter weekend. My photography partners in crime, and longtime friends, Lianne and Marie were also in town. So naturally, we had to get the gang back together for another one of our shoot dates.
As most of our shoots start out, we had a brief reference to go by and more or less improvised the rest. We had an hour and a half to get this done, so we wasted no time getting ready. At this point, our thoughts and roles in photo shoot preparations are not really verbalized; we just know what we need to do in order to accomplish what we need to get done.
The setup was put together in my kitchen, the backdrop hanging from the fridge. I left my background stand back at my apartment and had to improvise. It worked better than I expected.
This shoot is very fashion/editorial. I wanted there to be lots of colours within the images, but I also wanted contrast with light and dark tones. This worked well because both ladies have fair skin, and it created beautiful soft contrast with the colours of the fabric and flowers.
These images turned out so well, though I wasn’t surprised given these two ladies have been my star models since day one.
Thank you very much for reading!
You can find the video of this shoot in the "Videography" section of my site.
