During the first weekend of July, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Megan for her portfolio while I was back home in Chapleau. She was to participate in Top Model Search Canada in Toronto in August and needed to make a portfolio of some modelling portraits to enter in competitions and for promo use for Top Model Search Canada.
After going back and forth with ideas and samples, we had a few rough ideas to go by, and she had some specifications that needed to be followed for the photos to be qualified and used in the competition. So we met on location in Devon (residential area in Chapleau) and began planning the shoots for the day.
I loved the way the chair looked against the wall. The colours and patterns worked very well together. Once I more or less established the setting, we started with poses. It took a bit to position the light at the right angle but once we got that, it was smooth sailing.
For this portion, I wanted to create a very elegant yet fierce look, with just a subtle dash of colour. Despite having brought my flash and soft box, me being me I wanted to use the window light that was provided. I love window light so much, I'm very comfortable with using it and I trust the results I get with it. I had her sit on the floor by the window, wrapped some tool around her and began.
The next thing I had in mind was to have a natural vulnerable set of images that were both simple yet strong.
After that we decided to go down the the shore of Devon Lake and take some photos in the water. The water wasn't the warmest and the sun was in the wrong spot and shining in her eyes; but Megan held through it and the shots turned out to be stunning.
The afternoon went very well! We produced some amazing photographs and had a great time in the process.
Thank you for reading!
I hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes view on my shoot with Megan and some more beautiful final images.
