In a recently read a book by one of my favourite authors: Melissa De la Cruz. One of her most popular book series is called The Blue Bloods. The book I read was her latest Blue Bloods novel; a continuation called The Vampires of Manhattan. It was just as amazing as the rest of the series.
I then became inspired to make a series of self-portraits as a vampire persona.
For these images, I wanted to depict the blood-thirsty vampire as well as the burning pale skin in the sunlight. The urge is strong, but the sun is out.
While vampires are known for being vicious and malicious, they are also often portrayed as very elegant. They are also represented as having a vindictive and mysterious nature. Cloaked in the darkness waiting to deceive the next victim.
For this series, I wanted to really be creative in the post-editing. I let myself experiment in photoshop as needed and created what I think are interesting representations of the blue-bloods-blood-sucking immortals we call vampires.
Here is an example of the before (upper) and after (lower) images to give you an idea just how much creativity was expressed in post-production.
This series was very interesting to do. I love to cloak myself in characters to see what I may look like if I were a supernatural - sometimes mythical creature.
Thank you very much for reading!
I hope you enjoyed this behind the scenes look at Vampiris.
